Iranians gather in Frankfurt to support Christian citizens under repression in Iran

Iranians living in Frankfurt, in response to the critical situation of Christian citizens in Iran, gathered to raise their voices of protest against the violation of religious freedom by the Islamic Republic regime.

On Saturday, December 27, 2025, a group of Iranians living in Frankfurt gathered to demonstrate in support of Iranian Christian citizens who are being oppressed and repressed. The rally coincided with the Christmas season, and participants held placards and chanted slogans calling for an end to the persecution of Christians inside Iran.

Emphasizing solidarity with families and those persecuted for their faith, participants called on the international community to pay greater attention to the human rights situation in Iran.

The issue of repression and persecution of people who have converted from Islam to Christianity has been the focus of many international human rights organizations in recent years. According to credible reports, citizens who have converted from Islam to Christianity have been subjected to Iran's strict laws and in many cases have faced long prison sentences, repeated detentions, or legal restrictions.

In recent years, there have been numerous reports of an increase in the number of Christian converts being arrested and convicted on security charges. This group of citizens in Iran does not enjoy legal protection for religious freedom, as only minorities such as Armenians and Assyrians who have been Christian since childhood enjoy official freedom.

At the rally, some Iranian speakers living in Europe called on religious and political authorities to be the voice of oppressed Christians in Iran. It was stated, among other things, that Iranian Christians are persecuted not only for their faith but also for their activities in house churches, which are often forced to operate unofficially due to legal restrictions.

It was also noted that human rights activists in Europe and other parts of the world should raise the voices of these citizens so that their situation can be raised and followed up in international forums.

In Iran, religious freedom is not guaranteed for all, and conversion from Islam to other religions faces serious restrictions in practice. The Iranian government allows only certain religious minorities (such as Armenians and Assyrians) official freedom, and those who convert from Islam to Christianity are often denied legal protection.

International human rights groups also emphasize in their reports that pressure on Christian converts not only continues, but has also increased in recent years, and the number of prisoners or those facing security charges has increased significantly.

At the same time, organizations defending religious freedom and human rights around the world have expressed concern about the situation of Christian citizens in Iran and have published annual reports calling for the guarantee and respect of religious freedom for all Iranian citizens.

The Frankfurt rally is part of a broad wave of protests and solidarity by Iranians and human rights defenders abroad that have been held in recent years in various cities in Europe, the United States, and other regions to bring the voices of oppressed citizens in Iran to a global audience.
