US Treasury Department sanctions senior Iranian regime officials

The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on senior Iranian regime officials on Monday, May 4, 1402.
Yesterday, the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned four senior officials in the Iranian police and Revolutionary Guard who oversee the suppression of popular protests and censorship.
The four individuals who were sanctioned were members of the regime forces and were responsible for suppressing protesters during the revolutionary uprising (which began with the killing of Mahsa Amini), as well as the new secretary of the Supreme Cyberspace Council of Iran (the authority responsible for Iran's cyberspace policy and blocking popular websites).
The Treasury Department sanctions were coordinated with the UK, and similar sanctions will be imposed on senior Iranian security officials.
Deputy Treasury Secretary Brian Nelson also said regarding the regime's repression and violence against the Iranian people: "The Iranian people deserve freedom of expression without intimidation, violent retaliation, and censorship by those in power. The United States, along with its allies and partners, such as the United Kingdom, will continue to take action against those responsible for the regime's violent repression and censorship in this regard."
