Doubts about government claims about the death of 17-year-old protester Nika Shakermi

While state media in Iran simultaneously published an identical narrative of how Nika Shakermi was killed, claiming that the death of this 17-year-old girl did not occur during the protests, independent journalists and reporters, citing Shakermi's family, have questioned the government's narrative.

According to Nika Shakermi's family members, she was present at the protests in Tehran on Keshavarz Boulevard on September 19 and then disappeared.

According to the report, the teenage girl reported in her last phone call to a friend that officers were after her.

According to Atash Shakermi, Nika's aunt, after about ten days of not knowing about the girl's condition, her lifeless body was handed over to her family on Saturday, October 30.

According to journalist Hedeya Kimiai, on her Twitter account, in the ten days that Nika was missing, her family went to Kahrizak three times and gave her details in the hope of finding her, but they were told that no such person was here.

According to the report, security forces then showed Nika's body to her mother and aunt, but they were "not allowed to see the girl's entire body."

Ms. Kimiai wrote: "They only showed part of her [Nika's] face and head, with her nose and skull shattered. They also stole the body and buried it themselves. After being arrested on Keshavarz Boulevard, Nika was in the custody of security agencies for 10 days."

The journalist adds that Nika's aunt and uncle have been detained so that the "depth of the crime" is not revealed.

There have also been reports of Nika Shakermi being secretly buried in a remote village in Lorestan province, while her family intended to bury her in Khorramabad.

On Tuesday, media outlets affiliated with the government and the Revolutionary Guards, such as Tasnim News Agency and Hamshahri Newspaper, claimed that Nika Shakerami's lifeless body was found on September 20 in the backyard of a house on Labafi Street at the Amir Akram intersection in the Enghelab area.

The media report, claiming that Nika Shakermi was not killed during the nationwide protests, stated that the 17-year-old died after falling from the roof of a building and that 8 workers who were present in the building were arrested in this connection.

The report denied that Nika Shakermi was killed by the Islamic Republic's security forces and stated: "These eight men stated during the investigation that they learned about the incident through neighbors and the presence of officers, and that they had not seen the young girl."

However, in the past day or two, many on social media have expressed skepticism about the news published in state media on this subject.

According to the Tehran prosecutor, a legal case has been filed in this regard.

However, the government's claim to investigate Nika's death comes at a time when there are still many doubts about the government's willingness to make public how Mahsa Amini died in the Gasht Ershad detention center.

The Iranian Human Rights Organization has announced that the death toll from recent protests in Iran has reached "at least 154 people."

Many of those killed are teenagers and young people for whom the government has not taken responsibility.

Earlier, the 20:30 program of the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) in a report confirming the killing of Hadith Najafi, a young protester, by a bullet, accused foreign media of fabricating the death and claimed that Hadith Najafi was killed by unknown individuals.
