"13-fold difference" between official and unofficial statistics of those killed in Iranian protests

While Islamic Republic officials have only confirmed the deaths of three protesters against the increase in gasoline prices, reports from human rights organizations and videos posted on social media indicate that at least 40 protesters have been killed in various cities across Iran.
Islamic Republic officials have only confirmed the deaths of one person in Sirjan, one in Shahriar, and one in Islamshahr.
The Leader of the Islamic Republic also announced, without mentioning the number of people killed, that "a number of people died and centers were destroyed" in these protests.
The Fars News Agency also announced that the "casualties" in these protests were higher than in the January protests. According to official statistics, at least 25 people were killed in the January protests.
In the absence of reliable statistics on the number of people killed in the protests over the past three days in Iran, human rights activists have published statistics that are several times higher than the official figure.
According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, security forces stationed at the Javanrud Justice Building opened fire on protesters on November 15, killing at least "four people" in the shooting.
The site has identified two of the dead as "Kaveh Mahmoudi" and "Hamzeh Naqdi." The Kurdistan Human Rights Network has also reported heavy clashes between people and protesters in Kermanshah.
The human rights organization has announced that a number of civilians have been killed in the conflict, but the exact number is not known.
Official Iranian institutions have announced the killing of a police major named Iraj Javaheri in Kermanshah.
The human rights organization "Hengao", however, announced that five people were killed in the clashes.
The organization reported that 14 protesters were killed in Javanrud.
According to the organization, one person was also killed in Sanandaj.
According to this report, at least "four people" were killed on the second day of protests in Bukan.
Adnan Hassanpour, a journalist living in Marivan, said in an interview with Radio Farda that "six people" were killed on Saturday and between "one and four people" on Sunday.
He also said that on Sunday, a young man was shot in the head.
Mr. Hassanpour said that in other cities such as Javanrood, Sanandaj, Kermanshah, and Bukan, protests were “widespread” and the number of deaths was “high.”
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network also announced the number of people killed in Marivan as "seven" and published pictures of some of them.
On Saturday, reports were also published about the killing of "four people" in Behbahan.
Meanwhile, human rights activist Karim Daheimi announced in an interview with Radio Farda that Mohammad Hossein Qanavati, Mehrdad Dashtizadeh, and Ehsan Abdollahnajad were killed in Behbahan.
He also said that four people were killed in Khorramshahr and two in Ahvaz.
According to Mr. Daheimi, Meysam Adagipour, Khaled Menayat, Ali Ghazlawi, and Milad Hamidawi were killed in Khorramshahr.
He also said that Hamzeh Savari, Mohammad Reza Asafi were killed in Ahvaz and Ali Baghlani in Abadan. The human rights activist also said that three people were killed in Kot Abdullah in Bavi County.
Pictures of Meysam Adagipour, Hamzeh Savari, and Ehsan Abdollahnejad have also been published.
On Saturday, videos were released showing the killing of a number of protesters.
Several videos from different sources showed that a person was killed by direct gunfire from security officers on Saveh Road. A video was also released showing the killing of a person in the Zeinbiyeh area of Isfahan.
It was also reported that one person was killed in Kermanshah.
According to videos posted on social media, a protester against the increase in gasoline prices was killed in Golshahr, Karaj, on Saturday. Another video shows a protester being shot in the Maali Abad neighborhood of Shiraz. Eyewitnesses say the shooting took place from the Goldasht police station in Shiraz.
Radio Farda is unable to confirm or deny these reports.
Some political activists in Sirjan have reported that another person has been killed in the city, but the authorities have not yet confirmed this report.
