Fars News Agency confirms authenticity of Mahsa Amini's brain images

On Monday evening, the state-run Fars News Agency confirmed the authenticity of CT scan images of Mahsa Amini's brain published by a media outlet outside Iran, but claimed that "no evidence of head trauma or bleeding is visible in these images."

Previously, the Iran International website published CT scan images of Mahsa Amini, which were "provided to this media outlet by a hacking group," writing that the images "indicate a skull fracture on the right side of her head as a result of complications from a direct blow to the skull."

However, despite acknowledging the authenticity of the images, Fars News Agency claimed that the media outlet had "published them from an angle that made them appear to be broken."

The news agency, close to the Revolutionary Guards, also quoted an unnamed "specialist doctor" as claiming that the images showed that Mahsa "had undergone surgery for a tumor in the head area in the past."

From the first hours of Mahsa Amini's death, Islamic Republic officials and official media outlets have stated that the cause of her death was her physical condition. The Interior Minister had previously claimed that "Mahsa Amini underwent brain surgery at the age of 5."

This is despite Amjad Amini, Mahsa's father, officially calling these claims "lies." On Tuesday, September 10, in an interview with Event 24, Mr. Amini said: "I categorically deny all the statements made by Sardar Rahimi, the commander of the police force."

The head of the Hormozgan Province Medical System Coordination Council also denied in a letter that was made public that Mahsa Amini died from a heart attack and considered a blow to the head as the likely cause of the incident.

The death of Mahsa Amini after being arrested for forced hijab has sparked widespread protests in most cities in the Kurdistan province, Rasht, the capital, and some other cities, and in some cities, it has even led to security officers shooting protesters.
