Sister of French prisoner in Iran: The Islamic Republic's hostage-taking must end

Blandine Brier, the sister of Benjamin Brier, a French prisoner in Iran, has described her brother's situation as going from bad to worse, saying that there has been a kind of silence about Benjamin's situation since his trial earlier this year.

Blandin has expressed hope that the newly elected French government can do something to secure his release.

“Imagine that we are caught in the middle of a political conflict, in the middle of nuclear negotiations and negotiations on a prisoner exchange, and an unfair trial that the Iranians have made a propaganda film about… and in the middle of all of this,” he said.

Blandin added that "the situation we are in now is not normal. It is not a situation that is within our control as citizens who are not journalists. It is absolutely unbelievable."

Blandin, whose brother is imprisoned in Iran on charges of propaganda against the regime and espionage, says that sanctions, boycotts, and whatever else is necessary must end these hostage-takings by the Islamic Republic for the purpose of gaining concessions, and that all Europeans and international hostages must be returned to their homes and justice must be served.
