Two days after the tanker was released; for the first time in the Islamic Republic's history, the South Korean Prime Minister visited Iran

South Korean Prime Minister Chung Saek-kyun arrived in Tehran on Sunday, April 12, and was welcomed by Iranian Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri.

Mr. Kyun's three-day visit, the first by a Korean prime minister to Iran in 44 years, comes just two days after the release of the Korean tanker.

According to Bloomberg, discussions on Iran's $7 billion in frozen assets in South Korea will be the focus of the upcoming negotiations, which will likely have a successful outcome as a confidence-building measure between the Islamic Republic and world powers.

It is said that during his trip, Mr. Keown will meet with President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, and Ali Larijani, advisor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic.

In a related development, the Korean news agency Yonhap has also reported that meeting with officials of Korean companies operating in Iran, such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and SK Networks, will be among Chang Suk-kyun's other plans.
