"Russia is preparing to cancel visas for Iranian citizens"

The Iranian embassy in Moscow says Russia is considering measures to abolish visas for Iranian citizens. The Russian State Tourism Agency announced that Iran is among the 20 countries whose citizens travel to Russia the most.
The diplomatic section of the Iranian embassy in Moscow announced that Russia is preparing to cancel visas for Iranian citizens.
According to ISNA, the head of the Russian State Tourism Agency has said that Russia has begun work on the process of canceling visas for Iran and India.
ISNA quoted the media diplomacy department of the Iranian embassy in Moscow as saying that Oleg Safonov, head of the Russian State Tourism Agency, has announced urgent measures in this regard.
He said that Russia will take more urgent measures to cancel and facilitate visas and is ready to increase the number of Iranian and Indian tourists to Russia.
According to ISNA, Safonov called Iran one of the safest countries for Russian citizens. The Russian State Tourism Agency has announced that Iran is among the 20 countries whose tourists travel to Russia the most.
Mehdi Sanaei, Iran's ambassador to Russia, had previously promised that the Islamic Republic of Iran was ready to unilaterally abolish visas for Russian tourists to visit Iran more easily. In this regard, in October 2015, Iran extended the stay period of Russian citizens who had airport visas to 30 days.
According to ISNA, this year (2016) more than 35,000 visas were issued to Iranians, and according to forecasts, this figure will double next year. Mehdi Sanaei announced after signing the agreement to facilitate visa issuance procedures in 2015 that this is a step towards abolishing visa issuance for tourist groups.
