Unprecedented recession in Iran's meat market; prices "do not match people's purchasing power"

The head of Iran's Livestock Supply Council announced an "unprecedented recession" in the Iranian meat market in the first week of March.

As Mansour Pourian reported, due to an increase in supply and a decrease in demand, and as a result, a decrease in meat prices, "the first week of March passed without demand and in an unprecedented recession."

He added that the demand for meat in Iran has decreased "significantly" in a situation where "we always saw an increase in demand for meat at the end of the year."

The head of Iran's Livestock Supply Council said about the reason for this record: "Either we don't have powerful consumers or the prices don't match their purchasing power."

This news comes amid reports in recent weeks that the price of red meat has increased to astronomical levels.

In recent months, the prices of many goods, especially food items needed by the people, have increased sharply, and reports indicate that they are being removed from citizens' tables.
