6.0 magnitude earthquake shakes Hormozgan

An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale shook parts of Hormozgan Province on the morning of Thursday, March 16.

According to the Iranian Television News Network, the earthquake occurred at 2:45 a.m. local time in Bastak County.

According to the National Seismological Center, the epicenter of this earthquake was in western Hormozgan, Bastak County, 27 kilometers from Kokhard and at a depth of 10 kilometers.

No reports have yet been released on possible casualties or damage from this earthquake.

Mehrdad Hassanzadeh, Director General of Crisis Management for Hormozgan Governorate, said: "Assessment teams were immediately dispatched to the area and are currently examining the area to identify any possible damage."
