Death of a defendant in Tehran police custody

HRANA News Agency – A defendant who was arrested by Tehran's Shapour Police Department on drug-related charges has died suspiciously.
According to HRANA news agency, citing Kurdpa, a defendant in Tehran died suspiciously in a police detention center.
His identity has been identified as Milad Jafari, 25, from Kermanshah and residing in Tehran.
The report quotes one of the citizen's relatives as saying: "Milad Jafari was arrested on Thursday, April 8, on charges of drug-related crimes and assault by the Shapur police in Tehran. In response to inquiries from the citizen's family about his fate, the police announced that he was not here. After repeated inquiries from the citizen's family, the Kahrizak forensic medicine contacted them and asked them to go there to hand over the body. After the Jafari family went to the Kahrizak forensic medicine in Tehran, they showed his father photos of Milad's body and announced that the cause of his death was a fall from a height during his arrest."
The informed source stated: “These claims by the forensic medicine come despite the fact that bruises on the body and bleeding on the face of this citizen were evident in the photographs, and his family believes that the cause of his death was torture. Milad Jafari’s body was transferred to the Kahrizak forensic medicine in Tehran on Friday, April 19, but the law enforcement forces announced the date of death of this citizen as Monday, April 12.”
According to this informed source, Milad Jafari's family emphasized that they would refuse to hand over the body until an autopsy is performed and the cause of their son's death is clarified.
