German intelligence agency: Iran continues to seek to develop its nuclear weapons program

The latest report from the German intelligence service from the state of Bavaria shows that the Islamic Republic of Iran is trying to expand its arsenal of conventional weapons and achieve a system of weapons of mass destruction.
The Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post reported on Tuesday that it cited a 312-page document released by Germany's Bavarian intelligence service: "Iran, North Korea, Syria and Pakistan are trying to expand their conventional weapons arsenals by acquiring and developing weapons of mass destruction."
The document from Germany's Bavarian intelligence service was published in April 2018 and refers to these countries' illegal efforts to acquire and spread nuclear, microbial, and chemical weapons.
The report states that Iran is seeking to procure parts needed to manufacture weapons of mass destruction from Germany and other advanced countries, as well as to acquire technical knowledge in this area.
In 2017, Iran attempted to purchase materials and technology needed to manufacture weapons of mass destruction from German companies.
The Jerusalem Post reports from early June this year that a report by the German intelligence service in the state of Baden-Württemberg stated: "Iran, like Pakistan and Syria, is still trying to acquire the tools and know-how to produce weapons of mass destruction. At the same time, it is trying to develop a missile system to deliver such weapons."
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has not commented on her country's intelligence reports.
Ms. Merkel supports the JCPOA and sees it as a way to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
