National Medical Organization to Hassan Rouhani: Buy vaccines with a "scientific approach"

The Medical System Organization published a letter addressed to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, emphasizing the "need to purchase the coronavirus vaccine with a scientific approach," warning against "politicizing" in this regard.
Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, recently announced that the purchase of "American and British vaccines" is prohibited, an issue that has fueled concerns about the health and lives of the Iranian people.
The National Medical Organization announced on Sunday, January 11, that the priority of vaccine procurement and purchase is a vital and urgent need that must be addressed solely based on a scientific approach and national interests, regardless of political issues.
The heads of the three pillars of the Medical System Organization, along with the head of the National Assembly of Scientific Societies, called for the government's efforts to provide a "safe and scientifically approved vaccine."
The Pfizer vaccine, produced by the American company, has received approval from the World Health Organization, and some countries, from the United States to Canada, the European Union, and some Arab countries and Israel, have begun vaccinating their people.
The letter says that today, the most important issue in the world's health sector is a "correct, scientific, and prudent" response to the coronavirus pandemic, and the only way to overcome and break the chain of this deadly disease is to quickly provide and use an "appropriate and effective" vaccine.
Senior medical officials have said that many countries in the region and around the world have begun vaccination against COVID-19, and some countries in the region have even covered a significant percentage of their population with the vaccine.
Among the countries in the region, Israel has vaccinated nearly two million of its residents with the Pfizer vaccine.
The letter states that the scientific stages and mass production of a domestic vaccine will not be completed soon.
