Writer and Islamic scholar "Sedighe Wasmaghi" released from Evin Prison

Writer and Islamic scholar Sedighe Wasmaghi was released from Evin Prison after her illness worsened.
Ms. Wasmaghi was released from Evin Prison yesterday, May 0, after submitting a lawyer’s order due to the worsening of her illness that had previously caused her blindness. On the day of her release, Sedighe Wasmaghi wrote and published a letter addressed to several international human rights organizations, including the United Nations Fact-Finding Committee. In the letter, she wrote: “It has been more than 40 days since I was brutally and violently arrested and transferred to Evin Prison by government agents who are legally under the command of the Commander-in-Chief, the Leader of the Islamic Republic, on charges of removing my headscarf. Due to my loss of vision, I have endured imprisonment with torture and hard labor.”
He, who was also deprived of proper medical care due to his deteriorating condition, while referring to his situation during his detention, called on human rights organizations to spare no effort to prevent the Islamic Republic from committing oppression, especially against women.
Ms. Wasmaghi, who removed her headscarf last year in protest against the repression of women and girls, had announced that she does not consider the Islamic Republic's imposed hijab to be a religious hijab and that the mandatory hijab is a futile political game that women will end with their resistance.
It should be noted that Ms. Wasmaghi, in addition to losing her eyesight in the past few weeks due to a genetic eye disease, also contracted a heart condition in prison, according to her husband.
