Amnesty International calls for investigation into alleged war crimes in Afghanistan

Amnesty International called on the International Criminal Court to investigate allegations of war crimes in Afghanistan.
According to Agnes Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty International, Afghanistan witnessed repeated bloodshed and war crimes in the months leading up to the fall of the former government.
In a statement by Amnesty International, the Taliban, American soldiers, and the security forces of the former Afghan government are held responsible for harming civilians.
Amnesty International has called on the International Criminal Court to include an investigation into the actions of US forces and soldiers of the former government in its investigation into war crimes in Afghanistan.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) announced that in the first six months of this year, about 1,700 civilians were killed and more than 3,500 others were injured in the country, a figure that represents a 47 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
