Mohammad Khani released from Evin Prison after posting bail

Mohammad Khani, a translator, researcher, and doctoral student at Allameh Tabatabaei University, was released from Evin Prison today, Wednesday, November 11, after posting bail until the end of the trial. Mr. Khani was arrested by security agents at his home on October 3 of this year and on November 8, after the interrogations were completed, he was transferred from the Ministry of Intelligence's detention center, known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison, to the general ward of this prison.
According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, today, Wednesday, November 11, 2020, Mohammad Khani, a translator, researcher, and doctoral student at Allameh Tabatabaei University, was released from Evin Prison after posting a bail of 500 million Tomans.
Mohammad Khani was previously arrested at his home by Ministry of Intelligence agents on October 10 and transferred to the agency's detention center, known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison. During the arrest, the agents searched his home and confiscated some of his personal belongings and took them away.
On November 8, after the interrogations ended, he was transferred from the Ministry of Intelligence's detention center, known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison, to the general ward of the prison.
Mr. Khani had previously been indicted in Branch 2 of the Evin Prosecutor's Office on charges of "gathering and colluding against national security and propaganda against the system."
Mohammad Khani is a translator, social researcher, and PhD student in the field of welfare and social policy at Allameh Tabatabaei University.
Mr. Khani was detained by security forces for a period of time in January 2017. In 2017, he was also a member of the Allameh Tabatabaei University trade union council and, together with the trade union councils of 30 universities in the country, responded to the arrest of students from various universities during the nationwide protests of January 2017 by publishing an open letter addressed to the Minister of Science, Research and Technology.
