Mohammad Davari was transferred to prison to serve his sentence.

Mohammad Davari, a civil activist, was arrested today, Wednesday, December 16, after appearing at the Execution Unit of the Shiraz General and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office and transferred to the Shiraz Central Detention Center to serve his sentence. Mr. Davari was previously sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison by the Shiraz Revolutionary Court. This sentence was reduced to 3 years and 9 months in prison on appeal. Of this amount, 2 years and 9 months in prison can be applied as a more severe punishment.

According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, today, Wednesday, December 16, 2020, civil activist Mohammad Davari was arrested after appearing at the Execution Unit of the Shiraz Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office and transferred to the Shiraz Central Detention Center to serve his sentence.

According to a source close to Mr. Davari, he will be held in Shiraz's central detention center for a period of time and then transferred to Shiraz's Adel Abad Prison after the quarantine period ends.

Mohammad Davari was previously arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents in Shiraz on October 1, 2019 and transferred to the Shiraz Intelligence Department detention center (No. 100). After his arrest, Mr. Davari's personal home was also searched by Ministry of Intelligence agents, and his personal belongings, books, and manuscripts were confiscated.

After several stages of interrogation in the detention center of this security institution, Mr. Davari was transferred to Adel Abad Prison in Shiraz on January 11, 2019. He was finally released from prison on April 11, 2020, after posting a bail of 1.5 billion Tomans, temporarily until the end of the trial.

Mohammad Davari was sentenced in April of this year in the first instance by Branch 1 of the Shiraz Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Seyyed Mahmoud Sadati, to 7 years and 6 months in prison (more severe plus half due to repeated offenses) on the charge of "membership in a group opposed to the regime" and to one year in prison on the charge of "propaganda activity against the regime," for a total of 8 years and 6 months in prison.

In September of this year, this conviction was sentenced to 3 years and 9 months of imprisonment by Branch 1 of the Fars Provincial Court of Appeal. Of this amount, based on Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the most severe punishment, namely 2 years and 9 months of imprisonment, is applicable to him for the charge of membership in one of the groups opposed to the regime.

Mohammad Davari, born in 1994 in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad Province, holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Yasuj Azad University and is a bachelor's degree student in political science at Golestan University in Shiraz.

This civil activist has a history of being arrested and convicted for peaceful civil activities. Among these cases, we can mention Mr. Davari's arrest during the protests of January 2017 and before that, at the time of Hashemi Rafsanjani's death, for taking down his banner from the city of Yasuj.
