Iran's response to the G7 statement condemning human rights violations in the country

In response to the final statement of the G7 summit, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman strongly condemned parts of the statement, which condemned Iran's human rights violations, missile program, and "destabilizing activities" in the region.

Nasser Kanani, spokesman for the Islamic Republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Tuesday, June 28, in response to the final statement of the G7 summit in Germany: "We strongly condemn parts of the final statement of the G7 summit that are against the Islamic Republic of Iran."

He is referring to parts of the statement in which the Islamic Republic is condemned for its continued human rights violations, including arbitrary detentions and the increase in the death penalty, its missile program, and its destabilizing activities in the region.

The G7 leaders also called on Iran to cease all ballistic missile and nuclear weapons proliferation activities contrary to Resolution 2231 and to immediately deliver the credible technical information that the Agency needs to clarify and resolve outstanding issues in order to fulfill its legal obligations.

The spokesman for the Islamic Republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the above-mentioned issues "baseless, unilateral, and unfair" and said: "The statement of the G7 leaders deliberately ignores the gross violation of the nuclear agreement and UN Security Council Resolution 2231 by the United States and the imposition of maximum illegal sanctions against the noble Iranian nation."

He also claimed that the statement made “baseless” accusations about the Islamic Republic’s lack of safeguards cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency. Fars news agency quoted Kanaani as saying that the Islamic Republic emphasizes its “express commitment” that “Iran must never produce nuclear weapons,” but that Iran’s missile program “is never negotiable or negotiable.”

Kanani also criticized the part of the statement that concerns the Islamic Republic’s responsibility for the downing of the Ukrainian plane by the Revolutionary Guard Corps. In the final statement, the G7 leaders also referred to the downing of the Ukrainian plane by the Islamic Republic and announced that they would support continued international efforts to “hold Iran accountable” for the downing of Flight 752.
