Mohammad Musaed, an economic journalist, was sentenced to "four years and nine months in prison."

Mohammad Musaed, an economic journalist who was arrested twice in the past year for his reports on economic corruption and the November 2019 protests, announced his sentencing to four years and nine months in prison by the Islamic Revolutionary Court.

On Wednesday, September 3, Mr. Mosaed wrote on his Twitter page that in addition to his imprisonment, he had also been sentenced to a "two-year ban on journalism after imprisonment and confiscation of communication equipment."

According to this journalist, his media activity was considered by the judge of Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court to be "slander, crisis-mongering, inciting an empty-minded audience, and undermining the foundations."

Mohammad Musaed, who has mostly published his writings on Twitter in recent months, was arrested on December 20, 2018, by the IRGC Intelligence Organization. After spending two weeks in prison, he was released on December 6, 2018, pending his trial.

Meanwhile, in late July of this year, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) named him one of four winners of this year's "Press Freedom" award.

Mohammad Mosaed had previously won the prestigious Iranian economic journalist award, known as the "Aminozrab Award", as well as the "Freedom of Expression" award from Deutsche Welle.
