Opposition to the transfer of Nahid Taghavi, an Iranian-German citizen, to a hospital outside prison

Maryam Klaren, the daughter of Iranian-German prisoner Nahid Taghavi, reported that Evin Prison officials did not agree to transfer the prisoner to the hospital for medical treatment, despite the approval of prison doctors.
In a post she posted on her Twitter account on Sunday evening, August 1, Ms. Klaren referred to her mother's history of diabetes and her infection with the coronavirus, which has worsened her condition in recent days, and wrote that they are unable to inject Ms. Taghavi with medication in prison, and this has caused her problems.
According to Ms. Claren, the drug injection her mother received last Thursday was accompanied by heavy bleeding, but she was ultimately returned to prison quarantine in the same condition.
Ms. Taghavi's daughter also said that despite the prison doctor's confirmation that she would receive immediate medical attention outside the prison, their request has not yet been answered.
Nahid Taghavi, who is Iranian-German, was arrested on October 16, 2020, by IRGC intelligence forces at her home in Tehran.
AFP had previously cited the International Society for Human Rights in Germany as the reason for Ms. Taghavi's arrest as "her long-standing activity in the field of defending human rights in Iran, especially women's rights and defending freedom of expression."
In recent years, the Iranian government has arrested a large number of foreign nationals and dual-citizen Iranians on various charges, including espionage, collaboration with foreign security agencies, or acts against the regime, and some of these individuals have been exchanged with Iranian prisoners in other countries.
