Seven executions during World Week Against the Death Penalty

The Islamic Republic regime executed seven people over two days during the World Week Against the Death Penalty.
While several weeks have passed since people inside and outside Iran protested, as well as prisoners went on strike to protest the execution, the Islamic Republic regime continues to execute people, some of whom did not even have solid grounds for execution.
On Wednesday, October 9, exactly one day after the International Day Against the Death Penalty, two prisoners in Qazvin's "Chubinder" prison who had previously been sentenced to death on murder charges were executed.
Also on the same day, the death sentences of three prisoners in Karaj Central Penitentiary who had previously been sentenced to death on charges of murder in separate cases were carried out. The identities of these prisoners have been confirmed as "Majid Afrooz", 52, "Mohammad Mohamal", and "Ebrahim Seddiq".
On Thursday morning, October 9, two prisoners in Urmia Prison, Ali Ansari and Asad Farhang, from Saqqez, who had previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges, were executed. Ali Ansari had been arrested three years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.
According to the annual statistics of the Center for Statistics, Publications and Works of the Human Rights Activists' Association in Iran, from October 10, 2023 to October 8, 2024, about 811 executions, including 4 child criminals, have been carried out in Iranian prisons, which is an increase of about 23.06 percent compared to the same period in previous years.
