Pope Francis: The world is on the brink of a precipice

In an interview with La Stampa, Pope Francis warned that the world is on the brink of a precipice.

Pope Francis, the leader of the world's Catholics, called for a global ceasefire and warned that the world is on the brink of disaster in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Stampa.

"The Oslo Accords have made the two-state solution very clear, and until this agreement is implemented, real peace will not be close," he said in an interview with La Stampa journalist Domenico Agaso.

Pope Francis, while emphasizing that dialogue is the only way to move towards a peaceful future, asked everyone to pray for the end of war and the beginning of world peace. He called for an end to war and the hostile behavior of countries that attack other countries with bombs and missiles, and warned that we are on the brink of a precipice, calling for a global ceasefire.

Pope Francis, pointing out that actual war is completely wrong, said: "I am against considering any war to be just and I prefer to use the term self-defense. Any justification of war should be avoided."

While expressing concern over the escalation of military tension across the Middle East, he expressed hope for efforts and secret meetings to reach an agreement on a ceasefire, and announced that these efforts would yield good results.
