Police did not take the threat seriously, young man committed suicide

HRANA News Agency – A young man in Tehran committed suicide with a handgun after threatening to commit suicide if the police approached him. He did so because the police did not take the threat seriously and ignored it.

According to HRANA news agency, citing Khorasan newspaper, at 6:30 PM on Saturday, April 10, police officers patrolling near Malek Ashtar Square in the Ghiasi district of Tehran became suspicious of a 30-year-old man and ordered him to stop. However, upon seeing the officers, the young man took a few steps back and threatened them that if they took another step forward, he would kill himself.

The three police officers did not take the young man's threats seriously and went towards him to arrest him, but suddenly the young man, while only a few steps away from the officers, took out a Colt revolver from his pocket and, before the officers could react, put the gun to his temple and fired.

With the young man's death, the matter was reported to investigator Mohammad Hassan Zarei and an investigation began. Tests conducted by a weapons expert confirmed that he committed suicide.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive for suicide.
