Prince Reza Pahlavi's message to the world: "Iran is on the verge of profound transformation"

Prince Reza Pahlavi, while sending a global message about the profound transformation in Iran, issued a call for global responsibility, leadership, and solidarity.

Amid a new wave of nationwide protests, Prince Reza Pahlavi has published an op-ed in the Washington Post, painting a vivid picture of a historic moment that he says could shape Iran’s fate for decades. He writes that Iran today is not simply embroiled in sporadic unrest, but is on the verge of a profound transformation—a transformation for which the people will pay with their lives, their freedom, and their future.

According to Prince Pahlavi, what is happening on the streets of Iran now is a conscious effort to reclaim the future. He emphasizes that Iranians have come to the fore knowing the danger, and that this courage requires, more than ever, transparency, preparedness, and responsible leadership, not only domestically but also internationally and among global decision-makers.

In part of this note, Prince Reza Pahlavi welcomed Donald Trump's stance in support of Iranian protesters and wrote: "His message that America stands with those who want freedom, not with a government that spreads terror and instability, has had wide resonance inside Iran."

This sentence shows that the symbolic and political support of world powers, contrary to the belief of some analysts, is not unimportant to the Iranian protesting society and can have an impact on the morale and political equations within the country, especially when the message clearly distinguishes between the people and the government.

Prince Pahlavi goes on to point out slogans in which his name is heard alongside concepts such as freedom and national unity. But his interpretation of these voices is not ambitious, but responsible. He said about these slogans: “The protesters are shouting my name alongside slogans of freedom and national unity. I do not interpret this as an invitation to claim power, I consider it a deep responsibility on my shoulders.”

He sees this phenomenon as a sign of a collective understanding that Iranian society needs a unifying figure in this historic transition. The prince added: “It reflects the understanding that our nation needs a unifying figure to help guide the transition from tyranny to a democratic future, a future that the people themselves choose.”

His emphasis on "the people's choice" is seen as a conscious attempt to distance himself from any authoritarian model, even in the guise of opposition.

Prince Reza Pahlavi ends his note with a clear call to the international community, one that draws the line between verbal empathy and practical responsibility: “Don’t just watch the birth of a new Iran, work with us to make this transition peaceful, stable, and worthy of the sacrifices the people are making.”

This sentence is the essence of his message: "Although the Iran of tomorrow will be built by the Iranian people, the world's indifference or miscalculations could make the costs of this transition heavier."

Prince Reza Pahlavi’s op-ed in the Washington Post can be seen as an attempt to frame the Iranian protests in a clearer way for public opinion and global policymakers, one that presents the popular uprising not as chaos but as a national project to overcome tyranny. His emphasis on responsible leadership, national unity, and a peaceful transition suggests that the issue in Iran today is not simply collapse or survival, but how to build a tomorrow after the Islamic Republic.
