28 million people in the country are below the poverty line.

A representative from Tehran in the parliament announced that 28 million people in the country are below the poverty line.
In a speech, a member of the Tehran People's Parliament, while noting that the number of Iranians living below the poverty line has reached 28 million, announced that the alarm bells of various social harms have been sounded.
He also criticized the Seventh Development Plan in the field of social harms, stating that its set goals are no different from the Sixth Development Plan. According to Pirhadi's statements regarding the growth of poverty in Iran, the government has no proper and organized plan to eradicate it.
Speaking to reporters, he pointed out the alarm bells in the field of social harms and said: "The economic collapse of some segments of society in the last decade, the growth of marginalization, the increase in addiction rates, corruption, increased migration to large cities, the feminization of social harms, etc. are among the warnings that if we are not serious about organizing and confronting them in the Seventh Development Plan, we will soon face a serious crisis in the field of social health."
