55-Year-Old Hospital Staff Member Attempts Self-Immolation Due to Retirement Issues

A 55-year-old woman working for the Social Security Organization in Qazvin attempted self-immolation due to retirement-related problems and is currently hospitalized.
According to the Hrana news agency citing ILNA, Social Security healthcare workers reported that one of their colleagues from the hospital services department at the Social Security Organization in Qazvin, who had been following up on her retirement case, attempted self-immolation. She is currently hospitalized.
The person who attempted self-immolation is a 55-year-old woman employed by the Social Security Organization. She worked as a services department employee and, according to her colleagues, intended to retire early by taking advantage of retirement conditions available for hazardous and harmful occupations.
Under Social Security healthcare worker regulations, employees can retire after 25 years of insurance contributions and payment of approximately 50 million tomans to the Social Security Organization. However, there are some who, despite having more than 25 years of insurance contributions, are unable to retire, as the Social Security Organization reportedly does not approve early retirement before 30 years of service.
According to available information, Social Security healthcare workers, despite rulings by judges at the Administrative Court of Justice and the definition of their occupation’s nature under the State Services Management Law and the Social Security Law, do not have the option to retire after 20 years of insurance contributions as per the law governing hazardous and harmful occupations.
