A Teacher Summoned in Mashhad on Charges of ‘Insulting the Supreme Leader’

Mohammad Hossein Sepahri, a teacher residing in Mashhad who had previously criticized the arrest of teachers, workers, labor activists and the torture of Ismail Bakhshi by posting a video, wrote on his personal Twitter that he has been charged by the Khorasan Razavi administrative violations adjudication committee with “participation in illegal sit-in,” “abandoning duty during official working hours,” “conduct and behavior contrary to professional duties” and “insulting the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic.”
According to the teacher’s post, he had addressed the leader of the Islamic Republic in cyberspace, saying: “Mr. Khamenei, if you have the ability to solve a problem, in the name of God, if you don’t, then go pursue a job that you’re capable of doing…”
This comes as the leader of the Islamic Republic stated in his speech in the city of Mashhad at the beginning of the year 1397 that in Iran “freedom of speech exists and people are free to express different views.”
