Every year, a large number of workers in Iranian mines suffer accidents and even lose their lives due to non-compliance with safety measures by employers. However, only a portion of these incidents receive media coverage.
Government bodies typically refrain from providing any statistics on this matter.
According to a report by the “Free Union of Iranian Workers,” on Sunday, April 2nd, another mine worker named Omid Raisi in Fariyab County lost his life due to a tunnel collapse.
The deadliest mine accident in recent years in Iran dates back to the collapse of the “Zemestan Yuort” coal mine.
During the explosion and collapse of this mine in April 2017, 43 people were killed.
