All Eyes Turned to the “Supermoon” Last Night

Earth’s inhabitants looked to the sky last night as the sky displayed the moon in its largest and most beautiful state possible after 68 years.

Although the air in Tehran and several major cities of the country has been in very polluted conditions in recent days, and forecasts indicate the continuation of this situation until late this week, witnessing the “supermoon” phenomenon in its brightest state over the past 7 decades is not a matter that can be easily overlooked.
Supermoon refers to a full moon that coincides with perigee, which is the moon’s closest distance to Earth.
According to ISNA citing Space, in this rare event that will not be observable for another 18 years, the moon reached a distance of 356,506 kilometers from the planet, and therefore, NASA called it an “extraordinary supermoon.”
This phenomenon, in which the moon was 14 percent larger than its normal size, previously occurred in 1948, and the next opportunity to observe it will be on November 25, 2034.
The size of the supermoon is 14 percent larger than other full moons, and this difference can be seen in these images.
