Biden Administration’s Efforts to Prevent Revolutionary Guards from Being Listed as Terrorist Organization

The Biden administration is making all efforts to prevent the Revolutionary Guards from being placed on the terrorist list.
According to the Daily Telegraph, diplomats from the Biden administration have been pressuring the British government and attempting to prevent the implementation of the British Home Office’s plan under “Rishi Sunak” to place the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps on the list of terrorist organizations.
According to reports from this British publication, the U.S. State Department has argued that London could play a key role as a negotiator with Tehran, which would be undermined by this action. The British Foreign Office also used this argument to oppose the Home Office’s proposal to designate the Islamic Republic’s Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization.
The Biden administration’s efforts for this action come at a time when, in the past, under the Trump administration’s decision, the Islamic Republic’s Revolutionary Guards were placed on the terrorist list, and the Biden administration’s pressure on Britain contradicts this issue.
The process of placing the Islamic Republic’s Revolutionary Guards on the list of terrorist organizations by the British Home Office is under review and no decision has been made yet, as the country must carefully weigh the risks and benefits of such action.
Annalena Baerbock, Germany’s Foreign Minister, also declared in an interview with journalists: “The legal service of the European Union has stated that there is currently no legal basis for placing the Revolutionary Guards on the terrorist list of this union. However, Baerbock also noted that they will not stop trying and have therefore adopted new sanctions against the Islamic Republic.”
The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly warned European governments about the consequences of labeling the Revolutionary Guards as terrorist, saying they should not sacrifice their mutual interests for fleeting political issues and emotional decisions.
Iran’s warnings, as well as the mediation of the Biden administration and the decisions of the British government, mean that international policy does not allow the placement of the Revolutionary Guards on the list of terrorist organizations, as each country first pays attention to its own interests and people. In other words, all countries except the Iranian people benefit from all of Iran’s interests.
If the British government’s decision to refrain from labeling the Revolutionary Guards as terrorist becomes final, the Islamic Republic will intensify its crimes against the Iranian people more than in the past.
Given all the crimes and massacres that the Islamic Republic regime has committed during the 5 months of nationwide protests, will the British government refrain from placing the Revolutionary Guards on the terrorist list?
