Continuation of Hunger Strike by Rouhollah Mardani, Imprisoned Teacher in Evin

Rouhollah Mardani, a teacher imprisoned in Evin, has developed physical ailments such as dizziness, general weakness, and kidney pain following a prolonged hunger strike, yet security and judicial authorities are refusing to address his complaints and provide appropriate medical care.

Iran Human Rights Campaign reported in its statement on the condition of this imprisoned teacher that Rouhollah Mardani, who has been sentenced to six years in prison and two years of social deprivation, has been refusing to eat since June 9th in protest against the trial proceedings, an unjust verdict, and the cutting off of his rights.

Interrogation without the presence of a lawyer, an illogical verdict, and a flawed court decision are among the issues that have driven Mr. Mardani to a prolonged hunger strike.

The security office of the Department of Education has also cut off Rouhollah Mardani’s received salary since the beginning of his arrest due to unjustified absence.
