Continuation of Occupational Protests; Iranian Teachers Gathered in Over 60 Cities

Iranian teachers gathered in more than 60 cities on Thursday, December 2, once again in protest against the non-implementation of the job ranking plan and the failure to increase their salaries.
According to a report from the telegram channel of teachers’ professional associations, they are demanding the implementation of the job ranking plan and a salary increase equivalent to 80 percent of the salaries of university faculty members.
The payment of end-of-service bonuses and the implementation of the salary equalization law, based on the civil service management law, for retirees were among the other demands of the protesters.
Teachers from the provinces of Lorestan, Kurdistan, Alborz, Tehran, Khuzestan, Yazd, Kermanshah, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, North Khorasan, Gilan, Fars, Semnan, Qazvin, Isfahan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Mazandaran, West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, Ardabil, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Central, Zanjan, Hamadan, Gorgan, Razavi Khorasan, and Kerman participated in these gatherings.
Images published from these gatherings on social media networks show that security agencies have asked teachers to refrain from gathering. Among these videos is one showing protesting teachers in Fars Province emphasizing that their gathering is occupational in nature and no one can prevent it.
A video has also been released from a gathering of protesting teachers in Tehran, in which one of them, referring to numerous principles of the Islamic Republic Constitution, says that according to the law, a teacher, worker, or retiree should be able to own housing, but the Iranian government is not paying attention to the constitution.
Protesting teachers in Zanjan Province also chanted slogans demanding the immediate release of imprisoned teachers and addressing the livelihood situation of this class.
In recent months, teachers have repeatedly held gatherings with similar demands. They held gatherings in around 50 cities on November 11.
In these gatherings, they criticized the delay and procrastination of the Ebrahim Raisi government and the Islamic Consultative Assembly in implementing their demands.
