Domestic violence leads reports to Isfahan Province’s social emergency services in 1399

The head specialist of the social emergency services at Isfahan Province’s Welfare Organization stated that the most reports received in 1399 consisted of domestic violence cases, among which spouse abuse showed increasing growth, and child abuse increased by approximately 27 percent and elder abuse by 20 percent. He cited economic problems as one of the factors contributing to the increase in domestic violence.
According to Hrana news agency citing IRNA, the head specialist of the social emergency services at Isfahan Province’s Welfare Organization said: The most reports received in 1399 consisted of domestic violence cases.
Afsaneh Mirzaeian clarified: During this period, spouse abuse showed increasing growth, and child abuse increased by approximately 27 percent, elder abuse by 20 percent, and other forms of violence by 18 percent, with the highest rate of increase being related to spouse abuse.
She noted that in the past year, approximately 23,552 phone calls were made to the 123 social emergency services hotline, adding: Considering the coronavirus conditions that have existed since 1398 until now, quarantine created problems for the economic market and many businesses are not functioning as they did before, which has led to increased family disputes. For these reasons, calls have increased compared to the previous year and the rate of violence has also risen.
