Domestic Violence; Murder of a Woman by Her Husband in Tehran

On Wednesday, the 4th of Farvardin, a young woman was killed by her husband in Tehran following family disputes.
According to a report by Hrana news agency, citing IRNA, on Wednesday, the 4th of Farvardin 1400, a woman in Tehran was murdered by her husband.
She has been identified as Narges Soraya Khatir, 32 years old, originally from Gorgan city.
According to the report, investigation into this case began on the morning of the 4th of Farvardin this year with the discovery of a woman’s body on Azadi Highway.
Narges’s body was discovered by a street sweeper, and hours later her family identified the body and confirmed her identity. Given the victim’s history of conflict and family disputes with her husband, the deceased woman’s family became suspicious of her spouse.
The victim’s brother said in this regard: “Two nights before, the very night my sister was killed, I spoke with her. We are from Gorgan and my sister told me she wanted to come to our house, but I never heard from her again.”
The victim’s brother continued: “My sister’s husband, whose name is Bahman, went into hiding toward Khuzestan after the murder took place, but he was eventually arrested and confessed to killing my sister. Right now we are waiting outside the Karaj coroner’s office to receive my sister’s body. Narges’s husband first struck her head with a hard object and then suffocated her, after which he wrapped her body in plastic and a blanket and moved it from their home in Karaj to Azadi Highway.”
The victim’s brother spoke about the suspect’s motive: “I don’t know what the real motive was for my sister’s husband to kill her, but Narges had serious disputes with Bahman before this.”
He also added: “Narges had told my other sisters that her husband once wanted to cut out her tongue. They had disagreements over financial matters. Narges’s husband had his eye on my sister’s money. He had taken her car and was using it for a taxi service.”
The victim’s brother continued: “Apparently on the night of the incident, Narges wanted to come to Gorgan with her own car, but her husband wouldn’t give her the car keys. I think they argued over this issue, and that argument resulted in my sister’s death.”
