Families of Flight 752 Victims: Canadian Government Report Reveals Islamic Republic’s Lies

The Association of Families of PS752 Flight Victims released a statement on Thursday, June 24, welcoming the Canadian government investigation team’s report and describing it as evidence of “crimes, cover-ups and lies by the Islamic Republic.”
The Canadian government investigation team released its report on the downing of Flight PS752 yesterday, announcing that it has concluded Iran fell short in providing “credible explanations about how and why” it shot down the civilian airliner.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also stated that the report’s content shows the Islamic Republic’s official narrative of the incident is “inconsistent, misleading and superficial and deliberately ignores key factors.”
The Ukrainian aircraft with flight number PS752 was shot down on December 8, 2019, by at least two missiles fired by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps air defense system, killing all 176 passengers and crew on board.
In its statement, the Association of Families of PS752 Flight Victims emphasized that the Canadian government report “reveals the Islamic Republic regime’s disregard for human life, failure to state the facts, inability to dispense justice, and suppression of the victims’ families.”
The statement added that the association is encouraged by Canada’s commitment to pursuing truth and justice, including the possibility of referring the case to the International Court of Justice and issuing an international prosecution warrant against the Islamic Republic for the conduct that led to the intentional murder of our loved ones.
The Association of Families of PS752 Flight Victims considered the Canadian government’s decision to conduct an investigation and review an important but insufficient step that “cannot reach a final conclusion on the events that occurred on December 18.”
The families of PS752 flight victims stated that the Canadian government report clearly shows that experts did not have access to witnesses and documents.
The statement emphasized: “The Canadian government must work to ensure that those responsible for this crime are brought to trial and justice is served for the victims and their families.”
The Association of Families of PS752 Flight Victims has called on the Canadian government to “recognize the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization, impose targeted Magnitsky sanctions on those responsible for this crime, and pursue the case in domestic criminal court.”
The Islamic Republic denied shooting down the plane for three days, but after the United States, Australia, Canada, and Britain released evidence and documents, it ultimately admitted under international pressure that the aircraft was shot down by missiles from the Guard Corps’ defense system, but claimed the incident occurred due to “human error.”
Canadian Foreign Minister Marc Garneau said on Thursday, May 12, that the Iranian government’s conduct since the Ukrainian passenger plane with 176 passengers was shot down by the Revolutionary Guard over Tehran in December 2018 had been “contrary to conscience.”
