First confirmed case of coronavirus in New York; ‘Woman who had traveled to Iran’

New York State has confirmed its first case of the new coronavirus. According to the state’s governor, the patient is a woman who recently traveled to Iran and is currently quarantined at her home.
Andrew Cuomo, governor of New York State, said on Sunday evening, March 1st, that the female citizen is in her late thirties, recently traveled to Iran, and is currently quarantined at her home.
Mr. Cuomo did not specify the resident’s location of residence.
The New York governor added that the patient had some respiratory symptoms, but is not in serious condition and her condition has been stable since returning to the United States.
To date, cases of people infected with the new coronavirus who had traveled to Iran have been confirmed both in Iran’s neighboring countries and in some other parts of the world, including New Zealand.
In Iran itself, the death toll is higher than any other place in the world after China. Nevertheless, the number of confirmed cases according to the Ministry of Health of the Islamic Republic (as of early Monday, March 2nd) is 978 people.
In the United States, 71 citizens have so far been confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus, COVID-19.
In this country, the current death toll is two people. The second case, like the first, is a resident of Washington State.
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, said on Sunday that passengers coming from countries with high risk of coronavirus infection are monitored both before boarding the plane and after entering the country.
U.S. government officials have stressed that the number of masks and test kits available for coronavirus testing will be increased.
