“Frenzied” shooting by a soldier leaves four dead

The governorate of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad announced on Saturday, September 27, that a shooting incident occurred at the Yasuj Reform and Training Center, during which four people were killed and two others were wounded.

The victims of this incident, which occurred on Friday evening, September 26, are named Hamed Ahoun, Hossein Yazdanpanah, and Afshin Kamali.

According to the Iran Student News Agency (ISNA), Fatah Mohammadi, the political and security deputy of the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad governor, identified the perpetrator as a soldier with the abbreviated name “A.P.” from Gachsaran city, who was serving his military service at the Yasuj Reform and Training Center.

According to the deputy governor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, the soldier ended his own life by shooting himself after his “frenzied act.”

Fatah Mohammadi further stated that the cause and motive of this incident are still unknown and necessary measures will continue until the result is determined.

Mehdi Ansari, the law enforcement commander of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, also told the ISNA news agency: “The Reform and Training Center is under the supervision of the judiciary’s prison organization and has no connection to law enforcement.”

Meanwhile, Ali Abbas Falahati Motalagh, the general director of prisons and detention measures of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, while confirming that these soldiers belong to the prison organization, told the IRNA news agency that investigations into the cause of the incident continue by criminal investigators, the judicial system, and the military prosecutor’s office of the province.

He also announced the adoption of necessary measures to restore security and calm in Yasuj city and prison.

The Yasuj Reform and Training Center is located 10 kilometers from the city in the Madavan area.
