Global coronavirus cases surpass 60 million

As the number of coronavirus cases in the United States rises sharply, the global count of those infected with the virus has also surpassed 60 million.

According to Reuters, U.S. health authorities have urged citizens to refrain from traveling and avoid participating in family gatherings ahead of the country’s Thanksgiving holiday.

These U.S. public health officials have stressed that despite these warnings, many people will travel during the Thanksgiving holiday period, and therefore the number of cases is expected to increase.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, has once again emphasized that people must follow health protocols such as wearing masks and maintaining social distance, particularly during the Thanksgiving holiday period.

The resurgence of the virus in America has led to the closure of schools and restaurants in some states. A number of states, including New York, have imposed new restrictions.

Reuters reports that official figures in the United States show that in less than a week, one million new COVID-19 cases have been reported, bringing the total number of infected to over 12 million and 742 thousand. The death toll from coronavirus in the United States has also surpassed 260 thousand.

Reuters states that by Wednesday, the global number of coronavirus cases exceeds 60 million, with fatalities reaching 1 million and 400 thousand.

In Europe, over one million new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the past five days. The number of infected on the continent now exceeds 16 million. The death toll from coronavirus in Europe has reached 365 thousand.

While lockdowns and restrictions in Britain are set to end next week, Germany, Spain, and Italy have announced restrictions related to the holiday period, including limits on the number of guests.

Latin America is also facing an increase in cases. This region has the highest death rate due to coronavirus.
