Governor of Qods City Denies “Explosion in West Tehran”

The mayor of Varamin attributed the explosion in west Tehran, whose news circulated on social media, to the detonation of a “gas cylinder workshop,” but the governor of Qods city has denied the occurrence of any explosion in Qods and Varamin cities.
Following reports circulating on social media about hearing an explosion sound in west Tehran, the mayor of Varamin attributed the sound to an explosion at a “gas cylinder workshop.”
According to the “Sedaye Iran” news website, Houman Qadousi said the sound was heard around 8:10 p.m. on Thursday, July 19 (July 9) local time, which “resulted from an explosion at a gas cylinder workshop.”
Qadousi added: “This workshop is located within the Atmosphere area towards Varamin, and the explosion and fire that occurred were quickly brought under control and caused no casualties.”
According to him, experts are investigating the cause of the incident, and currently the situation in this area is “calm and under control.”
Meanwhile, the Fars News Agency quoted Leila Vathqi, governor of Qods city, denying any explosion in the area.
Vathqi said: “No explosion occurred in Qods city or even in Varamin, and the power outage was only opposite to the 12 Bahman Hospital at 10 p.m. last night for 5 minutes.”
Last night, social media users had reported a power outage in Qods city.
Hossein Hagvardi, representative of Qods and Shahr-e Qods, also attributed the power outage in the area to “the activity of electricity department officials.” According to the Mehr News Agency, he said: “The power outage in the Qods city area was a result of operations conducted at the county electricity department to resolve problems in this sector, and this matter has nothing to do with any explosion in this city.”
The governor of Qods city also said: “None of the security institutions confirm hearing an explosion sound in Qods and Varamin, and the circulated reports were rumors.”
The Fars News Agency also identified an image circulating on social media about this explosion and power outage in west Tehran as relating to “Israeli bombardment in Gaza.”
Fars wrote that field observations by two of its reporters in Qods city “do not confirm any explosion sound, and people spent a calm night in west Tehran.”
This is the latest in several explosions that have made headlines in Iran over the past few weeks.
Thursday evening on the fifth of Tir, an orange light was seen in the sky of east Tehran, which authorities attributed to “a gas tank explosion” at the military site of Parchin. Shortly after, satellite images showed that the explosion occurred in Khojir, located 20 kilometers from Parchin, where Iran is advancing its missile program.
On the tenth of Tir, an explosion also occurred at Sina Hospital in northern Tehran, which Tehran province’s crisis management attributed to “accumulation of oxygen cylinders and their improper storage.”
After that, on the 12th of Tir, an explosion occurred at one of the warehouses at the Natanz nuclear facility, which according to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has been explained, but due to security considerations, it cannot be disclosed at this time.
