Gulf Cooperation Council Designates Lebanon’s Hezbollah as Terrorist Organization

The Gulf Cooperation Council decided to place Lebanon’s Hezbollah, all of its leaders, and affiliated organizations on the list of terrorist organizations.

Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Ziyani, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, announced on Wednesday that member states of the council made this decision because Hezbollah in Lebanon engages in terrorist activities, arms and ammunition smuggling, and incites young people in these countries to cause riots and unrest.

Al-Ziyani said that member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council believe that the paramilitary activities of Hezbollah in other countries such as Syria, Yemen, and Iraq are also terrorist in nature and are incompatible with humanitarian standards and international law, and threaten the unity of Arab nations.

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council stated that these countries will take necessary measures to counter the terrorist organization Hezbollah. Council members also expressed support for Saudi Arabia’s royal decision to cut its financial aid to the Lebanese army, and called on the Lebanese government to reconsider its policies.
