Hamid Noori Trial to Continue for Two Weeks in Albania

The judge in Hamid Noori’s trial in Stockholm announced that the court will be relocated to Albania to hear testimony from several complainants in the case. Approximately two thousand members of the Mujahedin-e Khalq organization reside in “Camp Ashraf 3” in Albania.

Hamid Noori’s trial in Stockholm held its thirty-third session. During the October 26th (November 4th) session, the judge announced that the need to hear testimony from several complainants in the case necessitates a two-week relocation of the court to Albania.

It should be recalled that a significant portion of the complainants in Hamid Noori’s case are either those who survived the summer executions of 1988, or relatives of the victims of those executions.

A large number of these complainants are members of the Mujahedin-e Khalq organization who left Iraq and went to Albania, settling in “Camp Ashraf 3.” According to published information, approximately 2,000 people are present in this camp.

It should be noted that some members of the Mujahedin-e Khalq had previously participated virtually in Hamid Noori’s trial in Stockholm.

Previously, the trial judge had announced that the Hamid Noori trial would last approximately 10 months. Now, with the increase in the number of witnesses in this trial, it is likely that the stated timeline will be longer than the initially set period.

The significance of holding Hamid Noori’s trial stems in part from the role of Ebrahim Raisi, the head of the thirteenth government of the Islamic Republic. Raisi served as Deputy Prosecutor during the summer executions of 1988 and is said to have been one of the four main figures in the “death committee.”
