Hundreds of Artists and Filmmakers Express Solidarity with People of Khuzestan

A number of cultural activists and filmmakers, including Hossein Alizadeh, have expressed their solidarity with the people of Khuzestan in separate messages and statements, criticizing the violent treatment of protesters by security forces.
Hossein Alizadeh, a renowned composer and musician, expressed his solidarity with the people of Khuzestan in a brief poetic message.
He wrote: “Water or blood? The warm-hearted people of Khuzestan want water, not blood!” The message continued: “Listen! The heartbeat of Iran echoes in the soul of Iran.”
More than 330 filmmakers and cultural and artistic activists also expressed their solidarity with the people of Khuzestan in a brief text published on social media.
The message stated: “We stand in solidarity with our Khuzestani compatriots, crushed under oppression, violence, and discrimination.” This message was published by Mohammad Rasoulof, a renowned filmmaker, in a tweet.
The filmmakers further criticized mismanagement in the country and stated: “The thieves and plunderers who have ravaged Iran’s environment, resources, and culture do not deserve responsibility.” These filmmakers and cultural and artistic activists warned that “the continuation of this situation will lead to the destruction of Iran.”
Hamid Behzad, a film actor, also referring to the people of Khuzestan said: “They are neither needy nor powerless. They gathered to defend their rights. To defend the rights of all the Iranian people.” Behzad, referring to the long-standing environmental problem, said: “They gathered to make clear that drying up the Khuzestan marshes will destroy the entire Iranian plateau.”
Today, Wednesday, July 21 (June 21), a group of filmmakers also gathered in front of the “House of Iranian Artists” in Tehran and expressed their solidarity with the people of Khuzestan. Masoud Kimiai, Navid Mohammadzadeh, Farshte Hosseini, Kianush Ayyari, and Sajad Afsarian were also present at this gathering.
