Internet Disruption in Areas Surrounding Tehran; ‘Telecommunications Fiber Caught Fire’

Coinciding with the Chaharshanbe Suri ceremony in Iran, reports indicate a two-day internet disruption for fixed and mobile operators in several cities on the outskirts of Tehran. The cause of this disruption has been announced as a fire in the ‘telecommunications fiber chamber.’
According to reports, on Tuesday, the 24th of Esfand, mobile phone antennas and internet services of fixed and mobile operators Hamrah-e Aval and Irancell experienced disruptions from noon on Monday in the cities of Robat Karim, Chahardangeh, Parand, Islamshahr, Rudehen, Baharestan, and Damavand. The Public Relations Office of Tehran Telecommunications attributed this disruption to a ‘telecommunications fiber fire’ in one of the chambers at the ‘Azadgan-Saeidi’ intersection in southern Tehran.
