Iran and Hezbollah “Building Weapons Shelter in Damascus Suburbs”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, citing reliable sources, says that Hezbollah in Lebanon is constructing shelters in the Damascus suburbs to store weapons and drones sent by Iran. It is reported that experts from the Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah are currently present at the site.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on December 12 (January 2) that Lebanon’s Hezbollah has begun constructing underground shelters in the southern suburbs of Damascus in recent days to hide Iran’s weapons and drones.

It is said that Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fear Israeli attacks on shelters storing the Islamic Republic’s drones and weapons on Syrian territory.

These sources say that Hezbollah in Lebanon, fearing documentation of their activities, has kept farmers owning agricultural land away from the excavation site.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights report adds that these excavations are taking place at an old military airbase named “Dimas.”

This airbase was previously an intelligence training center for the Syrian air force and has recently been handed over to Iran’s and Hezbollah’s advisory and proxy forces, which have complete control of it.

Sources from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights say that Iranian weapons, ammunition, and drone components for assembly have been transferred to Dimas airbase located west of Damascus, near Tiyas airbase, known as “T-4” in Homs city.

These sources add that the excavations are aimed at concealing strategic weapons sent from Iran to the border areas of Syria and Lebanon.

It is said that experts from the Revolutionary Guards and some Hezbollah experts trained in Iran are currently present at Dimas airbase.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, noting that Iran played an “essential role” in the killing and displacement of Syrian people, has called on international circles to work towards the withdrawal of Iranian Islamic Republic forces from Syrian territory.
