Iran Rejects Netanyahu’s Claims About ‘Secret Nuclear Warehouse’

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Thursday, the fifth of Mehr, dismissed and denied Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, regarding the existence of a secret nuclear warehouse in Turquzabad near Tehran, calling it “a show and spectacle.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister stated that Israel is the only country in the Middle East with a covert and undeclared nuclear weapons program.

Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on his Twitter account Friday morning that Israel can never “obscure the fact” through “any sleight of hand” that it is the only country in the region that “has a ‘secret’ and ‘undeclared’ nuclear weapons program, including possessing an actual arsenal of nuclear weapons.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister added: “It is time for Israel to confess and open the doors of its ‘illegal’ nuclear weapons program to international inspectors.”

Bahram Qassemi, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, referring to the Thursday statements of Israel’s prime minister at the UN General Assembly, said: “This is another show and spectacle” by Israeli officials that “although it is not worth addressing; we strongly deny and reject it.”

Benjamin Netanyahu told the UN General Assembly that Iran has secret atomic facilities “to store a large volume of equipment and materials from Iran’s covert atomic program” in “Turquzabad” on a street called “Maher” in the suburbs of Tehran.

Israel’s Prime Minister said: “Iran is desperately trying to evacuate this hidden site; and to disperse its equipment and facilities in other locations.” He attributed this to Israel’s operation last year in obtaining Iran’s atomic documents in Shorabad.

This is while Bahram Qassemi, rejecting Benjamin Netanyahu’s statements, said: “The only authority to address nuclear issues is the International Atomic Energy Agency, which has continued its permanent monitoring and verification and has so far confirmed Iran’s commitment with 12 reports to everything it undertook responsibility for in the JCPOA, which is confirmed and endorsed by the international community and all relevant authorities and other JCPOA members.”

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson described the Israeli prime minister’s statements as “false, unbalanced and content-free utterances and false spectacles” that the world will “only laugh at loudly.”

Meanwhile, an American official who wished to remain anonymous told Reuters on Thursday that the United States is aware of the facilities Benjamin Netanyahu spoke about. It is a warehouse that is used for storing nuclear documents and archives.

A U.S. intelligence official also told Reuters that Benjamin Netanyahu’s statements could be somewhat misleading. We have been aware of the existence of these facilities for some time and these facilities are filled with paper filing cabinets and records, not centrifuge tubes.

This is while Israel’s prime minister says he has shared the existence of this secret warehouse with some leaders and also with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Benjamin Netanyahu also said: “Since we raided Iran’s nuclear archive, they have been busy clearing this atomic warehouse. Just last month they moved 15 kilograms of radioactive materials. Do you know what they did with them? They took these materials and scattered them around Tehran to destroy the evidence.”

Israel’s Prime Minister further stated that Yukiya Amano, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, is “a good man” but he has given him a “message” to take action on this matter and “before Iran clears this warehouse, send the Agency’s inspectors there to inspect it and ‘tell the truth about Iran.'”

Benjamin Netanyahu announced on the 10th of Ordibehesht about what he described as access to the “documents and records” archive of Iran’s covert nuclear progress.

He had said that Israel “obtained more than half a ton of documents” comprising 55,000 documents on 183 CDs from Iran’s covert nuclear research.

Israel’s Prime Minister said to reporters in New York on the fourth of Mehr: “The greatest threat against Israel is not from Syria; it is not from Lebanon; it is not even from Iran’s presence in Syria or resulting from Iran’s actions within its own country; rather, the Islamic Republic’s ambition to reach nuclear weapons is the number one concerning threat to Israel.”

Donald Trump, President of the United States, and several of his administration officials, including Mike Pompeo, have emphasized that the United States will not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons.
