IRGC Reports Attack on Ahvaz Attack Perpetrators’ Base in Syria

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that it targeted the base of those responsible for the terrorist attack in Ahvaz in eastern Syria across the Euphrates with several ground-to-ground ballistic missiles. According to reports, these missiles were launched from Kermanshah.
The IRGC announced in a statement that in response to recent terrorist attacks in Ahvaz, “six medium-range ballistic missiles from the missile bases of the IRGC Aerospace Force in the western part of the country” were launched toward eastern Syria across the Euphrates. This missile strike was carried out at 2 a.m. on Monday, the 9th of Mehr (October 1st).
According to the statement, in this operation, which was named “Muharram Strike,” “seven combat drones” were also deployed to target “terrorist” positions.
The IRGC stated in its announcement that “a large number of takfiri terrorists” were killed and wounded in the operation.
Fars News Agency reported that the fired missiles were of two types: Zulfiqar and Qiam, which according to Iranian officials have ranges of 750 kilometers and 800 kilometers respectively. The news agency released an image of a missile before launch with slogans written on it reading “Death to America, Death to Israel, and Death to Al Saud.”
Domestic news agencies published videos on Twitter of the moment these missiles were launched and wrote that they were fired from Kermanshah toward Syrian territory.
The IRGC emphasized at the end of its statement that “the security of the Iranian nation is a red line for the armed forces” and will not leave any “mischief and treachery of enemies” unanswered.
In the Ahvaz attack that occurred on Saturday, the 31st of Shahrivar, 25 people were killed, some of whom were civilians who were present at the scene to watch a military parade. The terrorist group “Islamic State” (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the attack one day later by releasing a video of individuals identified as the Ahvaz attackers.
Iran’s leader in a speech called the perpetrators of the terrorist attack in Ahvaz “cowardly agents” and threatened that Iran would deal “severely” with those responsible for this incident.
The IRGC also targeted Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria in a missile operation in June of last year. In a statement released by the IRGC Aerospace Force at that time, it was stated that this missile operation was carried out with the aim of “punishing criminal terrorists and avenging deadly attacks” on one of the buildings of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini.
This attack, which took place on the 17th of Khordad 96, resulted in 17 deaths. The terrorist group “Islamic State” (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement.
In this operation, according to the IRGC statement at the time, six medium-range ground-to-ground missiles were launched from IRGC bases in Kermanshah and Kurdistan provinces toward Deir ez-Zor. Several days after this missile strike, the IRGC stated that “more than 170 takfiri terrorists” were killed in these attacks and “heavy losses were inflicted on their equipment, assets, and systems.”
