Lack of Medical Care for “Arash Johri” in Evin Prison

Arash Johri, a prisoner detained in Evin Prison, has been deprived of medical care.
Arash Johri, a labor activist, was arrested by IRGC intelligence officers at his home in Tehran in September 2020 and transferred to Ward “2A” of Evin Prison.
He was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Afshari, to ten years imprisonment for “directing illegal groups with the aim of disturbing national security,” five years imprisonment for “gathering and conspiracy,” and one year imprisonment for “propaganda activities against the system.” The sentence was later reduced to seven years and six months imprisonment.
On September 21, 2022, following the tensification of the situation in Evin Prison due to a fire, he was transferred along with several other prisoners to Rajaishahr Prison in Karaj, and was returned to Ward 4 of Evin Prison in April 2023.
According to statements from one of Arash Johri’s relatives, he has repeatedly suffered from headaches, nausea, sweating, and heart palpitations and requires medical attention. However, prison authorities have taken no action regarding his physical condition so far.
Many prisoners detained in prisons, particularly political and ideological prisoners, are deprived of medical care, putting their lives at risk.
