Legal Case Filed Against Platforms Publishing Images of Women Without Hijab

The spokesperson for the Judiciary announced the filing of a legal case against platforms that publish images of women without hijab.

According to the Student News Agency, Masoud Setayeshi, spokesperson for the Judiciary, announced that legal cases have been filed against platforms that publish unveiled images, and the judicial system will pursue this matter seriously, firmly, and with sensitivity.

He also expressed that regarding the closure and suspension of business activities concerning the enforcement of hijab rules for which legal cases have been filed: “Compliance with laws and respect for them are among the duties of all members of society and a sign of the refinement and civility of individuals. The hijab has also been part of these progressive laws and respected by members of Iranian Muslim society throughout centuries, but unfortunately recently some domestic platforms took an inappropriate and illegal action by publishing images that were condemned by society and contrary to our native culture. For this reason, legal cases have been filed for these platforms in the relevant judicial units within the Judiciary, and the judicial system will pursue this matter seriously in accordance with legal duties and protection of people’s cultural rights and safeguarding the foundations of their civilization.

He also pointed out that if any closures or suspensions have occurred in this regard, it was without the knowledge and issuance of relevant orders by the Judiciary, and to date, no such order regarding the closure of various premises or professional units has been issued by us.
