LGBTQ Community’s Support for Palestinians Called Biggest Contradiction of 2023

The British LGBTQ community’s support for the Palestinian people has been labeled the biggest contradiction of 2023.
Since Hamas’s surprise attacks on Israel on October 7, the British capital London has witnessed tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters, with these massive gatherings and protests continuing. Hamas supporters and the Palestinian people have called for an immediate ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas.
Many protesters held Palestinian flags and chanted “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” expressing their support for Palestine. This slogan actually alludes to the elimination of Israel, and some Jewish organizations believe this slogan is antisemitic.
English authorities, while dealing with protesters in recent weeks, have repeatedly stated they will not tolerate behaviors based on hate speech. In recent weeks’ demonstrations, various individuals and groups supporting the Palestinian people and Hamas have occupied London’s streets, and in many streets they even performed prayers. Many of them tore down photos of missing people and Israeli hostages that had been posted on walls. Hamas supporters not only refuse to acknowledge Hamas’s terrorist actions on October 7, but deny them altogether.
Another strange occurrence has taken place during the mentioned demonstrations in the British capital: the participation and support of the LGBTQ+ community for the Palestinian people. The support of this community for the Palestinian people, which forms a large portion of the protesters, consists of individuals whose acceptance by extremist Muslims has been and remains impossible. In fact, according to Islamic Sharia law, they are considered criminals. For this reason, these individuals have left their own countries and fled to countries where they are accepted by society and can freely continue their lives.
Some social media users have reacted to the presence of these individuals carrying rainbow flags in recent weeks’ protests, labeling the presence of this community as the biggest contradiction of 2023.
