Ghholamreza Shariati, governor of Khuzestan province, in a meeting of the Khuzestan Crisis Management Headquarters held today on December 26 (December 17), regarding the cause of death of four women hospitalized in Imam Khomeini Hospital in Ahvaz, said that everything started with a lightning strike and then one of the hospital’s fuses was cut off. While the region’s power had not been cut off. However, the devices in the intensive care unit were turned off and four patients died.

According to the governor of Khuzestan province, only one fuse caused problems and the emergency power devices and UPS systems that had been prepared in advance did not work properly and on time, and the ICU ward devices were turned off.

Meanwhile, Kianoush Jahanpour, the public relations director of the Ministry of Health, in an interview with ILNA, attributed the death of these four citizens to recent rainfall and some damage caused to hospitals in Ahvaz.

The death of four women in Imam Hospital in Ahvaz became public today while the people of Ahvaz and social media users are still discussing the suspicious deaths of four students in recent weeks in this city and are calling for transparent information from the officials of the Ministry of Science and Health.

“Devices are not inspected and checked on time”

Shariati, noting that the government has fulfilled its responsibility for providing emergency power, acknowledged the existence of weaknesses in the performance and management of its subsidiaries and said that in some cases, experts have not previously reviewed and tested these devices.

The governor of Khuzestan province also emphasized following up on the matter and said that those responsible for this incident should be interrogated and the conditions should be managed in such a way that similar incidents do not repeat.

Jahanpour, the public relations director of the Ministry of Health, also said that if reports show that the cause of death of these four women is negligence and carelessness of staff or technical defects, action will be taken in accordance with regulations.

Security agencies and contaminated cakes

Jahanpour, the public relations director of the Ministry of Health, also regarding the outcome of the Ministry of Health’s investigations into the presence of pills discovered in food products, once again emphasized that this incident was committed with intent to sabotage and has no connection to the Food and Drug Organization or the control of food production.

He considered the involvement of security and police forces in the file of contaminated pills discovered in food products to be necessary and emphasized that even if the cause of the presence of pills in food products is discovered, the Ministry of Health will not have the authority to comment on it, and security and judicial authorities should report.

Saeid Namaki, the Minister of Health, also called the issue of contaminated cakes in Iran “a security matter.” Namaki said that embedding pills in cakes was done with the aim of “disturbing public opinion and destroying the food industry.” In recent weeks, news of poisoning dozens of children due to consumption of these cakes has been released.
